Expert Analysis
Matt DeBary | Prep Redzone Scout
Once again, Caldwell is climbing up the 2027 Prep Redzone rankings. The dynamic Parkview (GA) athlete will move inside of the top-20 in the spring update after a big junior season where he showed versatility, big-play ability, and natural athleticism. He can pick off passes in coverage, sack the quarterback from the cornerback position, make a big hit on the ball-carrier, and make an impact on special teams. A true weapon no matter where he’s lined up, Caldwell showed last season where he’s one of the state’s top defensive back prospects. He ended his junior season with 38 tackles, two sacks, one INT returned for a touchdown, and two forced fumbles. He also ran for over 260 yards and six touchdowns while returning one kick back for a score.

A speedy three-way player with natural playmaking ability, Caldwell did a little bit of everything as a sophomore for Parkview last season, making plays on offense and special teams while being a consistent defender in the secondary. He brings a lengthy frame, strong instincts, and the potential to turn into a do-it-all safety at the next level. As a sophomore last season, Caldwell made 49 tackles, four TFLs and one fumble recovery that he took back for a score. He’s now ranked by Prep Redzone as the No. 6 DB prospect and the No. 21 overall prospect in Georgia.

One of the top defensive backs not only in Georgia, but across the South in the 2027 class, Caldwell is an instinctive, turnover machine at safety who can also make big plays on offense and special teams. He shows strong ball skills, outstanding acceleration, and knows how to make plays at running back as well as on defense. As a sophomore last fall, Caldwell made 49 tackles and four TFLs. He also helped out at running back and at wide receiver. He earned a new Power Four offers this week from Virginia Tech, Texas A&M and Louisville.

I’m very familiar with Caldwell, having seen him live at a couple of All Star events over the past year. The Parkview rising Junior took home DB MVP honors on Saturday and has the potential to be a 2-way star at the high school level. A physical DB that loves contact and has natural instincts. I personally like him at the WR spot where his transitions that physicality over to the offensive side of the ball.
Outlook
Stock riser for sure over the past year. He has already received multiple offers with Auburn, Georgia St and Georgia Southern the most recent. Shines at every event he attends and on the field in the Fall.

The number 3 ranked overall WR in 2027 Class had 2 catches for 56 yards to lead team Impact. The 6’1 175 athlete impressed us back in the Spring All Star game with his physicality at the DB spot and he transitioned that over to the offensive side in this game. A natural athlete with great hands and instincts.
Outlook: Caldwell has been on the Prep Redzone radar since his middle school years when he was touted as a RB future star. He has continued to develop and grow physically and has become one of the top WR/DB prospects in the 2027 Class.

has all the tools to eventually add to that list. Coming in at 6’1 170 with elite athleticism, he easily stands out amongst the rest of the pack. He is a versatile member of the secondary, playing mostly safety but also coming down to the LOS to match up in man against receivers. Caldwell plays with good instincts and has striking potential from the secondary. During the game, he came away with 2 physical PBUs, aggressively playing through the receiver and knocking them off their path. He also capped off his night in the fourth quarter with a tip drill pick six, showcasing good focus and the burst needed to outrun everyone else to the endzone.

Without question one of the most impressive 2027 Running Backs not only in Georgia, but also the entire country. At 5-foot-10 and 160-pounds he’s a big, explosive Running Back that is equally impressive with both power and speed. I liked what I saw out of Caldwell this past summer as a member of the Georgia Future Stars but he’s seemingly turned it on even more for the Parkview Panthers this season. Was clocked at an 11.9 in the 100M this past June, but plays significantly faster than that on game day. Also a factor in Special Teams as a Kick Returner for Parkview. Best way to frame Caldwell’s ability, is that he’s a durable runner that will eventually bust a big one on a tired defense if they take a break or veer from their physicality. Caldwell will make you pay.
