Ka’Vion Campbell-Walker gave his verbal commitment to Ball State. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound safety is a hard-hitter with a nose for the ball. Campbell-Walker has great closing speed, remains a strong kickoff coverage defender and is a proven tackler in space. A multi-way contributor on a solid, winning program with high-upside for the next level.

Campbell-Walker arguably just had the most complete game of his career. From start to finish, he was making plays and forcing the opposing offense into tough spots. He’s a great athlete who glides all over the field and can make open-field tackles. His 20 tackles led the game, and then he forced 2 fumbles and deflected a pass.

Campbell is a great athlete on the backend who flies all over the field. He’s got good vision, reads plays quickly, and collapses hard when he needs to. In Week 1, he finished with 14 solo tackles. He plays with energy and isn’t afraid to get downhill to clean up runs or short passes. The effort stands out, and with the way he tracks the ball, he’s the type of defender who always seems to be around the play.

Campbell put up one of the most prolific seasons for a DB in recent memory. He flies all over the field and is there to make play after play. He put up a staggering 163 total tackles as a sophomore with over half being solos. He then added 4 intercpetions and forced a pair of fumbles creating turnovers as well as being a tackling machine. He’s a great athlete who just seems to have “it” in the backend.

Campbell’s season was nothing short of spectacular with how he performed and looked. His frame has come a long way from the tall skinny kid he was entering high school. He’s a sound athlete who can flip his hips and run with ease. He likes contact and seeks to make big hits when possible. His 163 tackles will be hard to beat, so it’ll be about consistency in years 3 and 4 showcasing that it wasn’t a fluke.

Campbell is someone I highlighted heading into the season as someone breaking out. The season he put together was as good as it gets as a DB. He put up 163 tackles with 4 interceptions and was in on 3 fumbles this past season and should be locked in as a top DB moving forward.

Making the full-time transition to defense is Campbell, who is playing lights out football to start the year, and his defensive career. He’s an explosive athlete who is great on or off the ball. He’s got the speed to run down ball carriers and stay with receivers down the field. He’s a tackling machine and always finds his way to the ball. He had 19 tackles this past week alone. On the year he’s got 48 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 forced fumble, and 2 interceptions. I love where Campbell is now and think if he stays on this trajectory he could become a highly sought-after LB.
