Expert Analysis
Connor Jackson | Prep Redzone Scout
Patterson is an undersized but productive DB who started on varsity as a freshman for Enterprise. His size might knock him inside for good long-term, but he covers better as a corner than most players at his size. He has the footwork, speed, and hips to match and carry routes, but it’s his ability to play through the ball and attack the catch point that sticks out to me. He is an energetic, violent tackler who can separate ball from ball carrier. I think Patterson has a chance to generate FBS buzz, even in spite of his size.

Patterson shows early signs of being a true shutdown-type defensive back with his length and physical presence on the outside. He plays with confidence at the line of scrimmage and isn’t afraid to challenge receivers in press coverage. His ball skills stand out, especially when tracking the football downfield and attacking at the catch point. Patterson also shows a willingness to support the run, stepping downhill and finishing tackles in space. As he continues to develop his footwork and route recognition, his coverage consistency will only improve. The upside is clear for Patterson to become a dominant boundary defender as he matures.

Kaidai Patterson is a shifty scat back out of Dauphin. This kid gets in done on all phases. What you think he lacks in size he makes up with his ability and heart. As he continues to develop into a premier option out the backfield, I could see him playing a little slot as well. He has solid hands along with being a problem on screens and sweeps.
