Millikan (Long Beach) offensive lineman Kapono Mao Kapono Mao Kapono Mao 6'0" | 300 lbs | OL Millikan | 2025 State CA announced his commitment to Black Hills State on Sunday.

Mao was First Team All-Sunset League twice at Los Alamitos. He has since transferred to Millikan.

He is a great pass blocking interior offensive lineman who gets a wide base and always has his hips square. His feet are fast enough to adjust to speedy rushers and he has the strength to defend bull rushes.

Mao was not the fastest of the offensive linemen but he showed the most agility and had the best body control. He was great in pass protection keeping his hips square and replacing his hands quickly. Mao was able to control the defensive linemen in the run blocking portion with his inside hand and by moving well laterally. He was the clear-cut MVP of the offensive linemen.

Mao got significant playing time as a sophomore for one of the top public school teams in the state. He is an elite run blocker already and will only improve as he adds strength.

His footwork is good and he goes a good job keeping his hips square in pass protection. He is one of the top linemen in his class and I am excited to see him in action on Sunday.
