Expert Analysis
Connor Jackson | Prep Redzone Scout
Georgia Tech was the first P4 offer for Charles, who is coming off a breakout fall as a sophomore. Charles checks the size boxes and is still leggy, so there is plenty of space for him to bulk up and fill out. He is a sudden athlete who makes powerful cuts and maintains his acceleration through those cuts, which allows him to quickly and efficiently jump across the face of defenders and into new running lanes. Charles is a rock-solid runner who is only going to get better. Expect more P4 schools to check in here.

And under the radar North Georgia running back coming off a really productive sophomore season, Khalil Charles is a speedy, shifty runner who ran like a season veteran last year instead of a second-year sophomore. He runs with balance, can break tackles and has no problem picking up yards after first contact. He shows easy D1-caliber potential and will be an easy addition to the Prep Redzone rankings after a 2025 season where he rushed for an impressive 1,536 yards and 14 touchdowns. He’s one of the top returning running backs in the area bound for an even bigger season as a junior next fall.

This is actually my first look at Charles, who is coming off an extremely productive sophomore season at Cass. There’s so much to like about this kid, starting with his size. He is listed around 5’10 185, and is still pretty leggy, so there is room to pack on some weight. He is a long strider who can lift off with explosive plays, but his sudden jolts of twitch and explosiveness stick out to me. He can create his own yards, he runs hard, and there is still time and space to get bigger and better.

The 2nd Week in a row the Sophomore RB has made our list. The 5’10 180 RB/S rushed for 235 yards with 3 TDs in a 55-9 win over Woodland. Charles has had a breakout Soph season and has solidified himself as one of the top RB prospects in NWGA in the ’28 Class.
A fearless runner between the tackles with good vision. Charles explodes thru the hole and has good top end speed. A physical kid that is hard to bring down with initial contact.
Projection: Charles has had multiple 100 yard games and seems to be finding his stride with the #10 ranked Colonels. We look for him to get a lot of attention this off-season.

The 5’10 179 Soph RB is starting to gain some attention in the NWGA Area. He rushed for 182 yards and scored a TD in a 28-21 win over Hiram to open Region play. Charles is coming off a game at Adairsville where he had 150 yds with 4 TDs.
Charles has the physicality and vision to make him an outstanding runner between the tackles. He does a good job weaving his way through traffic and has the speed to out run defenders at the 2nd level. A 2028 prospect we will be hearing more about, Stock Riser.
