About Julian
Expert Analysis
Cole Dobbins | Prep Redzone Scout
One of the most physically dominant defensive ends in the state, Hugo has already produced a sack, a TFL, and even a field goal block this season. Julian plays with heavy hands and explodes out of his hips to wreak havoc at the point of attack. He possesses great bend to set the edge, and finish plays in the backfield as well. Hugo may be in store for a massive break out game tonight, don’t be surprised if he contributes multiple sacks in a Steele victory. The Knights’ star DE is committed to the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Hugo is a force to be reckoned with off the edge, boasting a formidable combination of size, athleticism, and technique. Standing at an imposing 6’4″ and 236 pounds, his extended reach gives him a distinct advantage over opposing blockers. His explosive get-off and violent hands allow him to quickly shed blocks and penetrate into the backfield, disrupting plays on his way to the ball carrier.
Utilizing his length effectively, Hugo maintains separation from blockers, making it difficult for them to engage and control him. His ability to close in on ball carriers with speed and precision demonstrates his instinctual playmaking ability.
Hugo earned recognition as the Prep Redzone Texas Stock Up Showcase Defensive MVP in 2024, solidifying his status as one of the top defensive prospects in his class. His talents have not gone unnoticed, as evidenced by his offer from UTEP and his steady climb up the rankings.

was announced as the overall defensive MVP following the camp and there was no doubt that he was going to be the DL MVP on this post. Hugo made the coaches second guess themselves during the 40-yard dash when he ran close to a 4.7 at 6’4 and well over 200 pounds. The big man was moving down the field and with that size and burst, that’s scary for opposing offensive linemen. And during that session where he was going against the OL, Hugo put on an absolute clinic. He got into the backfield time after time and used that rare blend of speed and power to do so. And the fact that he’s just a sophomore is scary.
