When players have a significant offseason transformation, they often have two distinct rankings jumps: one in the offseason when we see them get bigger and stronger, and a second if that actually translates to improved play on the field. We don’t like to overreact to physical changes, because we look silly if it doesn’t lead to improved play, but I’m expecting Sandler, who put up some serious weight in the weight room this season, to have a great junior season.

Sandler is turning into one of the great strength-speed guys in the state, with a 4.7 40, 4.28 shuttle, and impressive weight room numbers. He’s well into the 1000-club with his 315-pound bench, 280-pound power clean, and 450-pound squat. That strength shows up on film as he routinely takes on bigger blockers to blow up running plays. I expect big things from him as a junior.

Sandler is a cross between an old-school thumper and a modern-day athletic middle linebacker and he flashes both qualities well. He gets good depth on his drops in pass coverage, which helps at his height. In the running game, he makes smart decisions when filling gaps and he’s a guy we could see moving up the rankings with a bit more polish going forward. We love his game.
