Josiah is a big and bruising runner who has been named the Mountaineers Offensive MVP the last two seasons. The impressive trait about Josiah though is his speed and quickness to go along with that size. Josiah is getting interest from multiple Division 1 college football programs now and deservedly so. I’m expecting Josiah to have a huge senior year to cap off what has already been a good high school football career in Kings Mountain.
Hill is a very different back than a lot of our other stock-risers in this update, as he’s a power back with good speed. At the next level, that power and break-tackle ability should translate and he already has great size. From a pure athleticism standpoint, Hill projects as a priority-FCS prospect or even a Group of Five back. He’s still fine-tuning his game, as he often wins by bouncing inside runs rather than patiently waiting for a hole. He has the speed to do that, and as he continues to develop the other parts of his game, we think he could have a late recruiting rise.
The big running back prospect ran hard all night long for the Mountaineers. Josiah picked up some tough yardage routinely on the ground, and got going a bit in the 2nd half, providing balance for the Mountaineers when they put up their 14 points in the 2nd half. Despite being a bigger back, Josiah showed some speed in getting to the edge of the defense on a couple of outside zone type of runs.
I wrote about Josiah not too long ago, and I think he is poised to have a big season. Last year rushing for almost 1000 yards and 14 touchdowns in a timeshare situation he was named his team’s offensive MVP. The Mountaineers typically are a run-first team, and with Josiah’s size, I am more than sure he is capable of carrying a heavy load once again for them this season. I am a little surprised that he has not received more recruiting attention overall, however, if he remains patient and has a strong start to the season, I think he will see some attention begin to come his way. As a runner, he is patient through the hole and then explodes to daylight on a consistent basis. He has good overall speed and shows some power behind his pads to go with it.
