About Joey
Expert Analysis
Cole Laing | Prep Redzone Scout
Adequate height with good frame and size. Solid athletic ability with good balance, explosiveness, lateral agility, solid acceleration, foot quickness, change of direction, flexibility, hand quickness, adequate hip fluidity, and foot speed. Good competitive toughness and will fight through every play through the whistle with a strong passion for the game. Good processing to read the offense and react to the play to be in position. Good versus the inside run, coming downhill to fill his gap with his good explosiveness and balance at the point of attack, with good use of hands to engage and shed blocks. Solid versus the outside run showing solid range to stop the run with his good lateral agility to cover hash-to-hash. Good angle processing allows him to be in a leveraged position against the ball carrier. Very good tackler who drives through the defender. Solid pass rusher on the blitz to put pressure on the QB. There are not enough pass coverage reps to give an evaluation based on his season highlights. Finished the season with 104 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 1 sack, and 1 punt block. Overall, a solid prospect who can walk into any DII or DIII program and be an impact player as a stacked Inside Linebacker who will excel against the run.

for over a year now and recently his recruiting is definitely picking up. The past week saw both Waynesburg University and Erskine college extend offers to this stud linebacker. His skill set ranges from division 2 or 3 football and as I have said recently, expect similar schools to amp up their recruiting on him very soon.

Joey has been on our radar for a while now, and he has made his mark quickly this season. He put up 17 tackles and 10 solo this past week due to his quick reads and explosiveness coming downhill to fill his gap and proves to be a dependable tackler. He is moving very well for his size allowing him to be an effective stacked LB. More need to take notice of his game.

Joey is no stranger to us at Prep Redzone. I did provide a full break down of his film previously that you can view here. I just want to make sure he does not go unnoticed. He has since picked up a few offers. His season was cut short last year, and he has been working hard this off season to be prepared for this fall. I will not be shocked if he outplays the rank we gave him, and he jumps up the board in our post-season update. Be sure to keep him on your radar.
