Woods runs with quickness and a sturdy frame, showing excellent balance and a low center of gravity that makes him extremely difficult to bring down. For a freshman to perform like that under championship lights says a lot.

Woods has gotten some run on Shelby’s impressive offense this year, averaging over seven yards a carry on just under 50 touches for the 3A giants. Woods runs with excellent pad level and runs through tackles with ease. He already has impressive size and build, and every indication is that he’s going to have a long and productive high school career.

Woods is making the most of his opportunities, with five touchdown runs on 26 carries this season. He has a 10-yard rush in every game and has shown good speed and burst to get to the edge on outside zone handoffs. Shelby doesn’t need him to be a workhorse, but he has 1,000-yard potential in the future and we love the early varsity run he’s getting as a change-of-pace back.
