Johnson is a strong safety who plays with confidence and fluidity of a cornerback. He reacts to anything in front of him, as shown on a bubble screen where he diagnosed the play quickly and delivered a hard hit. His highlights show that he states patient in coverage and likes to read the quarterbacks eyes. That lead to him getting multiple interceptions where he tracks under thrown passes and catches them at their highest point. Johnson’s ability to match up with receivers in the slot helps give his defense an advantage. He definitely understands the game and trusts his instincts. I’d ask to see more plays of him handling the run, but I think he’s a cornerback playing safety, and I’m impressed with that I see from him coverage wise so far.
