Severson has continued his ascent as a prospect and, in turn, up the Prep Redzone rankings. The latest update had the Madrid star as the state’s No. 1 overall player in the 2028 Class and top tight end. Some of the country’s best Power 4 programs agree, having already furnished him with an impressive list of scholarship offers. Severson is a tremendous athlete, not only evidenced by what he does on the gridiron, but also with what’s accomplished on the basketball court. He’s currently leading Tiger hoopers in scoring (24.8 PPG) and rebounding (9.4 RPG) as a 10th-grader. We can witness his talents in both sports on his Hudl page. His football ceiling is what has so many people excited. There’s explosive athleticism, speed and physicality already with potential for much more. Often lining up as an H-Back, Severson frequently delivers at least a chip block before running crisp routes. When assigned to block, he dishes out pancakes like he’s at a high school fundraiser.

continues to prove why he is deserving as the top TE prospect of the class of 2028 as he built off a promising freshman campaign to solidify his stance as a premium athlete going forward. Severson caught 23 passes for 407 yards and 4 TDs. Severson continues to grow in size, and with that he’s become a dangerous player to go against, with wreckful run-blocking in which he’s able to overpower the defender with little effort while also flashing his route-running and pass-catching ability as he’s quickly grown into a solid target for Madrid’s passing game. Severson already holds 9 D1 offers, and that number should continue to shoot upward over the next two years.

Offensive linemen and tight ends, that’s what Iowa produces for colleges on a regular basis. Many of the guys at those positions are sought after by the top programs. Severson appears to fit the description with schools on the next level recognizing the natural talent and upside. He reports scholarship offers from Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Texas A&M and Wisconsin. Not too shabby for a guy only halfway through his prep career. Severson is tall with long arms and speed. His frame can comfortably add good weight and strength without the loss of athleticism and quickness. As he tightens up his technique and skills at the position, a rise up the ladder towards his considerable potential will further increase interest in him. It’s a really high ceiling here.

Following a successful freshman season at Madrid, Severson set out this summer to prove himself this summer. He did just that, earning scholarship offers from Iowa State, Kansas State ad Wisconsin at their camps. He stood out on both sides of the ball last year, catching five passes for 54 yards, three touchdowns and a two-point conversion. Severson impacted the defense with 21 solo tackles, eight stops for loss and 2.5 sacks. He also led the Tiger basketball team with 8.0 rebounds a game to go with 15.4 points an outing. The agility and quick-twitch traits it takes for success on the hardwood, show up on the gridiron. We see that watching his ninth-grade highlight video. Severson’s physicality is advanced for a player so young, which shows up in his blocking. He stresses defenses on short routes and using his speed on deep shots.
