Expert Analysis

When you watch Jesiah on film, you see the speed off of the football, and the power when engaging with offensive linemen, and it’s really impressive stuff. When you’re as good as Jesiah is, you want to see consistent domination against the level of competition his team, Corvian, plays at, and you get that in abundance on film for sure. From a recruiting perspective, Jesiah has recently picked up offers from Maryland, Rutgers, Kansas State, Purdue, California, and Texas. A number of those schools do not routinely recruit the Carolinas, making that all the more impressive.

When you start looking at the number of offers from Power 4 programs, the list is staggering. So, of course, it makes sense that Jesiah is a strong candidate for this 704 Junior Bowl team. His best trait, in my opinion, is the speed and strength in his get-off at the line of scrimmage. There are several highlights of Jesiah getting in the backfield almost instantly and making tackles for losses and sacks. A college will be really exciting in receiving Jesiah’s commitment to play college football.

Often listed as an edge rusher, Fields could end up as a 4-3 defensive end, and will occasionally play there for Corvian. However, we see him as a speedy interior rusher who has the quickness to shoot gaps and the strength to hold up as a run-defender. No matter how he develops, he should be an asset for a Power Four college program.

Fields played as an undersized interior pass-rusher last year, so this offseason, he reshaped his body, adding good weight. He’s explosive off the snap and can win with speed or power. This offseason, he showcased those skills at several high-profile Power Four camps, showing he’s not just a product of a lower classification.

Fields is a bit undersized as an interior pass-rusher, and I thought he might go through the recruiting process as an edge rusher, but colleges really like him on the inside. He’s recently blown up on the recruiting trail with offers from SEC powers and I think there’s room for him to continue improving as both a stout interior run defender and a versatile pass-rusher for Corvian.

Jesiah has some excellent size for future growth, and he picked up his first offer from Campbell University this summer. I had a chance to interview Jesiah before he moved over to his current school Corvian and I will share that here as a part of his evaluation. Jesiah shows some explosive movement off of the football and has an impressive reach that allows him to still affect the quarterback if he doesn’t get all the way home for a quarterback sack.
