Jerron Martress Jerron Martress 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB High Point | 2026 State NJ quietly put up 1,600+ yards and 151 per game at High Point. He’s not flashy — more bulldozer than jitterbug — but he churns out yards with power and sneaky open-field burst. While his long-term future might be at linebacker, his heavy workload and bruising style make him a real contender to top Jersey’s rushing charts this season.

Jerron is a larger than life, downhill runner for one of the more impressive teams in the northern part of the state. While they lost in the sectional semifinals against Glen Rock, there was still a lot of good that came out of the season as High Point had one of their most impressive seasons to date. A lot of that success stems from the play of their exceptional running back, Jerron Martress Jerron Martress 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB High Point | 2026 State NJ .
Jerron exploded onto the season in 2024, absolutely dominating through the ground game and running for 1671 yards and 26 touchdowns. Every time High Point handed Jerron the ball you could almost guarantee positive yardage with the potential to break lose for a big gain. Lining up in the I-formation, Jerron built up speed and momentum as he crossed the line, making it extremely challenging for any defender to slow him down. With each step Jerron takes it gets increasingly difficult to stop his progress, as the power he can produce continues to build and eventually is unleashed on a unlucky defender. While he plays the role of a traditional power back, don’t overlook his ability to make guys miss in the open field. For a bigger back, Jerron is surprisingly quick in space and can evade would-be tacklers with quick lateral movements and sharp cuts.

Jerron Martress Jerron Martress 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB High Point | 2026 State NJ is the most impressive running back in the state that no one is talking about. High Point has been relying on Jerron very heavily for the first 6 games of the season, and for good reason; Jerron is averaging 157.5 yards per game on the ground and has found the end zone 14 times. In High Point’s latest matchup, they went up against a talented Vernon team and were able to defeat them with once again exceptional play from their star running back. In this latest outing, Jerron was near impossible to slow down as he took 20 carries for 232 yards and 2 touchdowns.
High Point’s run focused offensive scheme gives Jerron plenty of opportunities to break into the open space for a big gain. He is a larger back them most in the north (6’0″ and 190lb), and uses that size to his advantage as he lowers his shoulder between the tackles and gains the hard earned yards. Even when the defense knows High Point is running it right up the middle, they have a tough time preventing Jerron from getting to the second level. To compliment his size and power is Jerron’s quickness and 2nd gear he has in the open field. Jerron’s jump cut is elusive, and when it is deployed on defenders it can leave them sliding across the turf as Jerron passes by untouched. To top it all off, once he delivers the elusive cut, his quick acceleration out of the change of direction allows him to break away from any trailing defenders.
