One of the biggest question marks coming into the 2022 season centered around the running back position and how the Highlanders would replace the production lost from Isaiah Gray. That was answered with 2024 standout Jeremy Hutcheson Jeremy Hutcheson 5'11" | 195 lbs | RB Lawton | 2024 State OK enjoying a breakout season. Class 5A was absolutely loaded with talent at the running back position last season and Hutcheson’s breakout season added him to that group. Last year, the Lawton Mac standout would run for more than 1,600 yards and became the latest Highlander standout at the running back position. Now as we look ahead to the 2023 season, the question shifts to different positions. The Highlanders lose their top offensive lineman and quarterback, Hutcheson will look to carry more of the load this fall.

Honestly a lot of what we said about Clayton at East Central can be followed up right here with our final prospect on the breakdown. Lawton MacArthur running back Jeremy Hutcheson Jeremy Hutcheson 5'11" | 195 lbs | RB Lawton | 2024 State OK is incredibly underrated as well when you look at his size and production that he had last season in a breakout year with the Highlanders. It feels like Lawton MacArthur is one of those program that always has a standout running back and Hutcheson is the latest example of that. And just like with Clayton, we knew more about him from watching him on film and seeing some of the numbers he was able to put up last season. But last month, we got a chance to watch him in person at the Westmoore team camp and once again, he checked all of the boxes. He’s a good runner and knows how to find the right holes and gaps in a defense to spring into the open field. We know that Hutcheson has a goal of outdoing his production from last season and if that happens, the Highlanders will contend in Class 5A. They are one of our dark horses for a deep run this fall.

When we were going over our notes from the Westmoore camp, we kept just seeing “Lawton Mac” every where as they had a really impressive team on both sides of the ball. They looked like one of the more experienced teams in attendance and one of their top returning players is 2024 standout Jeremy Hutcheson Jeremy Hutcheson 5'11" | 195 lbs | RB Lawton | 2024 State OK at the running back position. We know that Hutcheson had a really strong junior season and now he’s back for more this fall. The Highlanders have had an excellent run of producing playmakers over the last decade on the offensive side of the ball and it looks like that trend is going to continue with Hutcheson. This was our first chance to watch Hutcheson up close and in person and he definitely passed the eye test. We mentioned how there were quite a few running backs that were turning heads and the Lawton Mac standout definitely belongs on that list.

I absolutely love doing these Friday Film Reviews because I get to watch film on guys like Hutcheson. Hutcheson plays running back and defensive end for the Highlanders. He is a big running back that looks to weigh a little over 200 that can get downhill in a hurry. Once he gets the ball, he can get vertical quickly with good vision at the second level. He shows good balance and field awareness who runs hard behind his pads. The one thing I would like to see more of is not running so tall as the ball carrier. He will lower his shoulder on contact and has no issue with being physical. It will be good to see how he progresses from his Junior year to Senior year as I look for him to have an impressive Senior year.  Last year he rushed for over 1,600 yards as a junior.
