Hicks made a handful of catches that really caught my eye during the 7 v 7 drills. He has good athletic ability due to very good jumping, good change of direction, speed, and acceleration. Good release against press jam and off coverage. He has good separation quickness due to his mental processing and play strength. Hicks has quick feet, and showed that during the L-Drill. Good catching. Very good body control and adjustment. Adjusted to the ball thrown above, plucked the ball out and used his good balance to land on one leg and stay upright. Good performance by the young receiver.
With his size and physicality, Hicks presents the frame of a hybrid receiver, tight end prospect. Though he had a few early drops, he settled in as the day progressed and began to showcase his natural catching ability. Hicks ran clean routes and made several eye catching grabs, particularly in traffic. His size makes him an ideal possession receiver, capable of winning contested catches. Out of Greeley, he’s a name to watch closely as a physical mismatch on the perimeter or in the slot.
Hicks was a reliable target for Greeley West, securing 21 catches for 300 yards and a touchdown while averaging 14.3 yards per reception. His best outing came against Loveland, where he posted six catches for 105 yards and a touchdown, proving he can deliver when it matters most.
Hicks brings a polished skill set to the receiver position, standing out with excellent body control and the ability to high point the football. His precise route running ability allows him to create separation and stretch defenses vertically. Once in the open field, he is elusive, capable of making defenders miss and picking up chunk yardage. As the team’s returning leading receiver, Hicks is poised to take on a leadership role in the offense. With his combination of hands, speed, and route running, expect him to be a critical playmaker this season.
