Jayon Preston-Grady Jayon Preston-Grady 6'3" | 230 lbs | DL Fort Dodge | 2027 State IA broke out as an underclassmen standout for the Dodgers’ defense. Grady recorded 33.5 tackles (25 solo), 8.5 TFLs, 3 sacks, and a fumble recovery in 2024. Playing at DE, Grady shows good form taking on the Tackles, using his hands well, and gaining leverage on the outside shoulder to get around and into the pocket. Beyond forcing stops behind the line, Grady was able to force a lot of pressure, with much of his production coming as he caused the QB to make a hasty decision and get the ball away, leading to forced incompletions and mistakes for the offense. Grady will have more time to grow into his position, but Grady is already shaping to become quite a force on the edge going forward.

Preston-Grady produced as a sophomore in 2024. He contributed 25 solo tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks last season. We see how Preston-Grady gets the job done when watching his 10th-grade highlight video. His combination of athleticism and strength allows the Dodgers to move him around the defensive front. Preston-Grady shows an aptitude for making plays off of the edge or from up the gut. It’s smart to keep utilizing him that way until his physical and technical development reveal his best spot. D-End is the current favorite, but his quickness and agility would play up even more at tackle. It will be exciting to see how it comes together.

Sophomore Jayon Preston-Grady Jayon Preston-Grady 6'3" | 230 lbs | DL Fort Dodge | 2027 State IA is a player who, surprisingly, slipped through my radar at the last update. The Fort Dodge defender had a sophomore campaign with 33.5 tackles, 8.5 TFLs, 3.5 sacks, and a fumble recovery. Playing on the defensive line, Jayon brings an aggressive mindset to the trenches that has made him a handful for opposing linemen to contain. He quickly gets off the ball and keeps his hands locked and ready to explode through his opponent’s chest. Once he’s made his initial punch, Jayon works his hands inside and can use his strong base to bull rush linemen off their spots. He also showed that he can use different hand techniques/pass rush moves to disengage from blocks and work his way into the backfield. Preston-Grady also had several plays where he flashed excellent bend when rushing off the edge.
