Independence standout Jaylen Byers Jaylen Byers 5'10" | 165 lbs | DB/WR Independence | 2028 State VA received his first offer from Hampton yesterday, this could be a domino effect for the Tigers all-star corner. Byers is 5’10 with a good wingspan, he is coming off a sophomore campaign where he did not allow 1 touchdown. The rising junior will certainly have his hands full week in and week out playing in the Cardinal District, I would imagine after last year he will welcome the challenger.

Byers has been crushing it on the 7v7 circuit and he will come off the Watch List and be ranked this time around. Playing defensive back for Independence High School as a sophomore, he did not allow 1 touchdown his way in 2025. The Tigers are expected to compete for a Cedar Run title next fall and Jaylen Byers will have a major impact.

I would be remiss if I didnt mention Jaylen Byers earning a top performer spot playing corner for DMV Attack. He really was outstanding and made plays on receivers that hold Division 1 offers. A soon to be junior out of Independence High School, Byers is on our watch list but that will change when we update the 2028 rankings later this month.
