Expert Analysis
Oliver West | Prep Redzone Scout
Sticking with the Hawley Nuggets for another standout rising senior out of the Class AA ranks of Minnesota small school competition. 5’11, 205-210 lb. DE/OG Jayden Alvarado Jayden Alvarado 5'11" | 205 lbs | DL Hawley | 2027 MN shows a good get-off, can run the hoop, and flashes some physicality and power at the top of the arc. He opens his tape by putting an OT flat on his butt while getting after the QB, then chasing down the QB from the backside with impressive speed, and overall does a good job of shocking, reading, and shedding blocks with his hands to make tackles around the LOS in run defense. Alvarado is a strong, technically-sound form tackler with a good motor, and he showed off some impressive play speed in a TD-saving, diving, balls-to-the-wall, high-effort tackle on a loose Barnesville ball carrier from the backside of the LOS and 20-25 yards downfield. Alvarado flashed an effective chop/rip that he used successfully to earn himself a big tackle later into his highlight tapes, put a couple DL flat on his butt as a puller in crushing fashion, and again, owns a big motor. The 5T flashes tons of plays showing off range and play speed and reinforcing the fact that he needs to have a hat and assignment on him at all times, and would be an excellent fit for a DIII, NAIA, or JUCO program in the area. Keep up the great work, Jayden, the tape was a fun watch!
