Representing northwestern Minnesota and Clay County, Hawley Nuggets‘ defensive back was one the biggest breakout stars from the 2025 Summer Camp Circuit, showing up and showing out at one of North Dakota’s heavy-recommended Flagship Prospect Camps in eye-popping fashion. Coming in at 6’0.75″, 172.4 lbs., Steer ran 4.63 and 4.64 40 (clocked by Isaac Fruechte), 30’5″ triple broad, and 4.42 and 4.63 shuttle in an absolutely stacked DB group that day in Grand Forks. Seeing some of the DBs he was outworking and hanging with that day already earn and commit to D1 programs surely has me wondering when Steer’s time will come, and whether he’s being overlooked due to geography, or classism, or general exposure, it surely isn’t because of the film.

The FS/WR/RB was a multi-phase dynamo with big-time coverage range from the defensive secondary who is generally a high-impact MOF defender. Very productive in 2025 as a junior, Steer flashed impressive ball skills, vertical, and 50/50 ball/contested catch ability, not to mention serious bounce, and PRZMN loves the obvious body control and balance when playing the ball in the air. Steer demonstrates loose hips, and he can play man coverage on the perimeter or out of the slot. Steer also owns burst and big-play ability as a wideout and can easily expose CBs on double moves. The speed, contact balance, acceleration, vision, and a toolbelt of moves in the open field help Steer act as a splash-play, game-breaking RB, and PRZMN especially loves the contact balance and strength for a back of his size and stature. Plus, he has a huge catch radius and strong hands that can securely pluck the ball out of the air and away from his body, and the junior was still creating game-changing individual efforts 3+ minutes into his highlight tape.
