Meldahl plays well in a phone booth. He can make multiple cuts in a small area, making him challenging to tackle one-on-one. The Trojans’ runner accelerates nicely out of those cuts, getting to top speed before defenders can react. Once he gets into the open field, he has good speed to separate. He is most electrifying when making defenders grasp for air. To be good in the open field, runners must have good vision. Meldahl sees the field and finds gaps in the defense regularly. It would be right to classify him as a scat back, but he has some break-tackle power if defenders don’t square him up.

Jaxson to me would get my nod for the 2026 RB MVP at the Winona State Camp as from testing on down to 1v1s, this kid was super impressive to watch. The first look of Jaxson flashed off some catchy change of direction especially when I got my first glimpse of him in Indy Drills. He also showed off great vision for his age with his route-running as he was a running back that could adjust on the fly to where the ball placement was and showed off good athletic ability to bring the ball to his chest. His tape shows off a solid burst in the open field and I thought he looked faster on tape the more he progressed downhill as he also showed that same solid change of direction at his age with his elusive footwork for his age. Certainly a 2026 RB prospect to watch for out of Southeast Minnesota in my eyes.

If I had to give out a running back MVP to the running back group on Saturday in Winona, my vote would be for Rushford-Peterson’s

. For his age, Jaxson showed off exceptional change of direction that blossomed smoothly in Indy drills and later into 1v1s, which I love to see the consistency between start and finish with Jaxson showed off. This young man also caught me with his swiftly growing football IQ he already has at his age as Jaxson’ showed off some vision on his routes that I have seen upperclassmen struggle with in camps, as Jaxson worked getting separation with his route-running significantly well.
