Gooden really improved both his technique and his body as a junior and goes into his senior year as one of the better 2A offensive linemen in the state. He can really move and has the frame to add a bit more weight, if he wants to do that. That being said, he already has a decent handle on smaller defenders in the running game, something that is more important now in Murphy’s run-heavy offense.

A huge right tackle in an old-school run-first offense, Gooden’s calling card is power. He’s at his best when he’s firing off the line and clearing the way for his backs. He gets off in a hurry and can drive defenders off the ball. That will translate no matter the scheme. The pass-blocking will come along eventually. For now, the physical profile and run-blocking ability is promising.
