Farmer was the model of consistency in his high school career, with over 110 tackles and six sacks in each of his last three seasons. While his overall numbers dipped a bit as a senior, we thought he improved his level of play. Farmer is one of the best at sifting through traffic between the tackles to find and bring down ball carriers and he improved in pass coverage as a senior as well.

Jamari was my defensive player of the game. Jamari imposed his will defensively for the Blue Devils with several big hits and was all over the field. He caused a safety in the second quarter with a big hit on the Providence QB in the end zone. Jamari also helped out on Special Teams, running a fake punt for a 1st down to help put the game away in the 4th quarter. I spoke with Jamari after the game, which was a fun interview.

While he plays the linebacker position, Farmer’s skillset is more like that of a bigger box safety in that he’s best in man coverage or as a quarterback spy. Much like a safety, his break towards the ball is impressive and a lot of his tackles are when he decides to shoot a gap or move downhill out of coverage towards the quarterback. A big hitter, Farmer has the versatility to play all three linebacker positions and I’m excited to see where Indiana lines him up.
