A week ago, Furtney wouldn’t have found himself on this list. However, the 6’5, 230 lbs tight end from St. Charles North recently opened up his recruitment. He was previously committed to Army. Furtney earned his second straight All-State honor this season, as the big-bodied and athletic tight end is an impressive receiver and blocker. He is a major threat in the red zone, whether he is an in-line tight end or a split out receiver. With elite body control, soft hands, and the ability to get open, Furtney is the total package at tight end. He also is a game wrecking defensive end. Whichever side of the ball Furtney finds himself on, he is sure to find a home soon.

St. Charles North and Wheaton-Warrenville South had a battle for the ages on Friday. The North Stars secured a big conference victory in overtime, and Furtney played a massive role in that. The Army commit had a 4 touchdown night and made several plays at defensive line and linebacker that changed the game. On offense, Furtney excels at tight end. The 6’5, 230 lbs senior showed off his ability to make contested catches and gain yards after contact all night. Furtney was especially a threat in the red zone, where he scored all 4 of his touchdowns. Whether its on offense or defense, Furtney brings it every Friday night.

Coming out of St, Charles North High School, Jake Furtney Jake Furtney 6'5" | 230 lbs | DL St Charles North | 2024 State IL (Class of 2024) is another big tight end to keep a lookout for. The big 6’4 tight end seems to have a sneaky athleticism about him that leads to big plays on the football field. When he is out on a route, Jake moves with intention as he works to find an open window in coverage. When he is targeted for a pass, Jake has the ball skills to bring the ball in almost every time. Jake is also a very physical blocker, whether he is in line and blocking defensive linemen or split out and blocking linebackers. Jake has an incredibly impressive highlight tape and has shown to be one of the best on the field. I am looking to see what the 2023 football season has in store for Jake, big things are coming for him.

This massive prospect for St Charles North is already college sized and is due for a HUGE senior season. Jake does a great job handling inline duties as well as lining up outside in certain packages/personnels. He can understand any offense he plays in (4.2 GPA) and his size makes him a nightmare for high school defenses. Even with his 240 pound frame, he still has the athletic ability to run away from larger defenders. He does a great job of being patient in the run game as well and really uses his hands and frame to erase defenders. Mr. Furtney has a good frame standing at 6’4 235 that keeps his feet driving through the white out of his tight end position. When he doubles the defensive end with the offensive tackle they’re able to drive the defender 10+ yards downfield before putting the defender in the dirt. If he’s blocking one on one, he can use his quick punch at the point of attack to get his hands inside. Once he does, he can either wash the defender down the line of scrimmage or kickout the defender creating a running lane for his teammate to hit. Currently holds interest from an array of schools.
