A player that is versatile enough to play safety or linebacker, Jah’quil Dooley Jah’quil Dooley 6'0" | 165 lbs | DB Phillipsburg | 2026 State NJ has found his groove lining up as a strong safety for Phillipsburg. Quick enough to provide valuable assistance in coverage, Jah’quil is able to mirror receivers in coverage and go toe-to-toe with them downfield. Opposing offenses have a tough time completing passes especially across the middle when Jah’quil is sitting there. He has a reputation for dislodging the ball from the receiver’s hands.
Lining up towards the line, Jah’quil has proven to be essential to Phillipsburg’s run defense as well as he is a defender that does not shy away from lead blockers. Instead, Felix brings the force to them and proceeds to wrap up the ball carrier. Jah’quil has a high football IQ and can react in an instant to blow up a play in the backfield and prevent a runner from bouncing it to the outside. Jah’quil will play a big role in Phillipsburg’s defensive success in 2024, but don’t be surprised if you see him get some carries on offense as well next season.

Jah’quil Dooley Jah’quil Dooley 6'0" | 165 lbs | DB Phillipsburg | 2026 State NJ is a very solid two-way contributor for the Stateliners. Last fall Dooley was credited with 34 tackles (29 solo), 3 tFL, 2 sacks, and 1 FF and FR a piece; he also slashed 14/102/3 on the ground. Typically a fullback, Dooley has strong legs that he keeps moving. He has solid balance as he looks to barrel through or bounce off of defenders when he rushes through the muck. A versatile safety who can play cover 2, single high, or down off the edge, Dooley reads run very well and is aggressive in getting to his run fit. He also does a lot of fundamental things well – form-fit tackling and boxing oncoming blockers correctly. These two attributes allow him to set the edge nicely. Dooley is tough to hook on a reach block and scrapes backside down the line with tight angles. As a safety, we need a better sense for how he covers. There were not many clips of him in coverage on his tape.
