Additionally, Sokoll possesses valuable utility as a three-phase contributor who can play TE, FB, and long snap, and to sweeten the pot, he’s a multi-sport athlete who is also a good baseball player with the Zephyrs.
As a DE, Sokoll does a good job of sniffing out the football and working up and under pullers and mobile OL around the LOS. You can visibly see him read, stay home and hold his gap, and accelerate from a dead stop to close and make tackles on QBs and RBs out on the edge and in space, and he shows good initial pop and can create separation from blockers when he locks out and extends his arms. Sokoll possesses the long speed to pursue and run down ball carriers to the sideline and overall does a good job of not getting tied up around the LOS and not letting OL get their hands on. As a FB/TE, Sokoll is a bruising blocker who can lay some serious wood, as well as demonstrates good burst and body control as a ball carrier who can get you hard yards between the tackles and run through arm tackles at his lower body. Plus, Sokoll can catch the rock out of the backfield, both as a route runner and in the screen game, and displays some real juice and YAC ability after the catch. Really like the versatility, production, and dynamic ability from the young DE.
