Phelps led all tacklers in the Southern Section with 232, had 23 for a loss, four sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery for a Pacifica team that won a CIF championship. He also ran for 979 yards and 11 touchdowns on offense.
He reads his guards very well and diagnoses plays very quickly. His short-area quickness is among the best in the class and he can get into the backfield before the offensive lineman has a chance to bounce to him off a double team. Phelps recently visited USC and has an official visit set up at San Diego State.
