Isaiah Johnson Isaiah Johnson 6'0" | 245 lbs | DL Academy Park | 2028 State PA is having a special season. In 5 weeks, he has 31 tackles. That is extremely rare for a defensive lineman. He is extremely explosive off the ball. He gets off the ball, and he destroys offensive linemen. Last week in game 5, he had 8 tackles and 2 tackles for loss. Offensive linemen struggle trying to block him. He is extremely hard to move off his spot. He also shows a motor that never quits. Johnson is having a fantastic season for Academy Park.

I appreciate Johnson tagging me each week in his weekly highlight reel. He recently posted a two minute tape on Hudl that fully encapsulates the best highlights from his first three games of his junior season at Academy Park High School.

Johnson aligns as a 4 3 defensive end, shading outside of tackles. He shows fantastic burst off the line, creating penetration within the first second of the ball being snapped. His helmet constantly flashes in the backfield, with tackles for loss littered throughout the tape. He is not strictly a defensive end either. Johnson can be kicked inside to the B gap or even align head up over guards. I think he is better suited at defensive end, but it is encouraging to see him combine his agility and lower body strength to win against bigger interior guards and centers.

He also shows great pursuit skills, chasing down ball carriers behind the tackle and consistently taking good angles to the football. Johnson is a disruptor who might deserve a ranking boost. He takes what is given to him postsnap, gets his helmet into gaps and drives his legs well to disrupt rushing lanes immediately after the snap. If he continues producing at this level week in and week out, collegiate attention should follow.
