About Ian

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I play smart, fast and physical! Nobody gets through or around me! I get square and balanced fast, engage quickly! I'm into him before he has a chance, then lift and drive until the whistle! I will put you on your back!

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I play as a member of a team. I'm not going to do things that cause my team problems like penalties. I lock in and focus intently. The first thing I think about before the action starts is how bad of a night my opponent going to have, knowing it will be his worst night of the year! I know I am the smartest and most fundamentally sound player out there so I play my game and frustrate opposition!

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I play Rugby, we wone the D-1 State Title last year.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed leadership and teamwork skills through my role on the football team and in school. As a varsity lineman, I made it a point to help younger players learn plays during practice and stayed after workouts to review film with teammates who asked for help. I also focused on being dependable by showing up early for conditioning and encouraging others always!

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One of the biggest challenges I have faced was starting as a sophomore where this team has not had a sophomore starting on the line for the last 20 years. I needed to make everyone trust that they could run behind me, and call plays into holes that I was to create. I worked intensely hard and after the first game the coaches congratulated me and said I played a fantastic game, with no letdowns!

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm looking for a college where I can pursue my desired majors of engineering and economics. Along with that I love to play football, I love everything about it and want to play at the highest level I am able to. I want to play for a team that wants to win and will tolerate nothing short of perfection!

Ian played center last season, but this year it looks like the junior has slid out to left tackle for Marquette. The junior fits the role well. He has a large frame with length that gives him room for error vs speed rushers. Ian moves pretty well on his feet, both when getting depth in pass pro or when mirroring counter moves. The big man also flashed the ability to quickly overwhelm a DL or edge defender in the run game. No doubt, Ian is one of the OL to know in a very deep WI Class of 2027.

Marquette fielded a talented offensive line in 2024, and anchoring it at center was the 6’4″ 280 lbs sophomore Ian Beckes Ian Beckes Ian Beckes 6'4" | 290 lbs | OL Marquette University | 2027 State WI . Ian will be back to lead the way in 2025, and his sophomore film has me jacked up for what is to come. Ian is massive and plays how you would expect a big, strong, nasty IOL would play. He is looking to dominate dudes. Ian is able to get snaps off quickly and flash his quick hands to get inside position on nose guards or DTs. Ian packs a punch right from the snap too. Everything he does has that same devastating power behind it. Beckes is looking to dominate his man every snap, and it has me excited for what he is going to do this fall.
