Expert Analysis
Nick Rock | Prep Redzone Scout
Lang’s frame and build should be an initial attention catcher for college coaches with a lean, athletic 6’3″ 210lb frame, and when you add his productivity on top of that, he should be a no-brainer offer now type of kid. He has already out up 9.5 sacks, 13 TFL’s, 2 INT’s, and 37 total tackles in just 6 games played. A well-polished player in all phases of the game with really good play speed and play strength and a nose for the ball. He can beat OT’s with both speed or physicality, yet also drop into zone coverage if needed and excel. A legit gamechanger on the defensive side of the ball at the 3A level.

is one of those kids you just can’t help but notice. He was a true two‑way weapon for Gilbert Christian last season, putting up 460 receiving yards on offense and then flipping around to dominate off the edge on defense. Over the past two years he’s stacked up 40 tackles for loss and 18 sacks, and that kind of production doesn’t happen by accident — he’s relentless. At 6’3″, he’s long, physical, and tough to bring down after the catch, but that same build and motor also make him a violent, instinctive pass rusher. Lang plays with an edge, the kind of guy who brings energy every snap, and he’s a difference‑maker wherever the Knights decide to line him up.

Lang sizes up with an athletic frame with excellent length, and is developing into a promising Edge rusher at the 3A level. He does a great job using that length and physicality against OT’s to take away the outside. Excellent pursuit as he’ll oftentimes make plays in the backfield from the opposite end, and possesses deceptive speed within those long strides to cover ground quickly. Solid all around tackler in the run game with good lateral bounce to make plays lateral down the LOS. Lang’s frame alone should draw some attention his way- and he has a huge opportunity to rise his stock moving forward.

is quite the versatile weapon for a 5-3 Gilbert Christian squad. On the offensive end, he has 285 receiving yards — averaging more than 23 yards a catch — and three total touchdowns. The ultra-physical tight end doesn’t go down easy, and with his long strides, he has the ability to win footraces against defensive backs. When the Knights are on defense, Lang turns into an instinctive and aggressive wrecking ball. Despite not having the most size on his frame, he doesn’t seem to lack any strength and his feet always seem to be in the right position. His nose for the football has landed him 72 tackles so far in 2024 with two games left to play.

is a two-way sensation for Gilbert Christian. Notching so far on the season 64 total tackles, 33 of those as solo tackles, 8 TFLs, 2 sacks, and a few blocked extra points. His best game to this point has been against Crimson, where he had 7 solo tackles of his total 12 tackles that game, 2 TFLs, and those two blocked extra points. Lang’s get off and speed off the edge are eye-popping as he can instantly get across the backfield to make a tackle for a loss. He has outstanding tackling form, aiming at the opponent’s hips and spinning them down for a minimal gain. He is tough and gritty, which shows up on both sides of the ball when he plays defense, either as a defensive lineman or sometimes linebacker and as a tight end. His team will take on Valley Christian this week. With Lang’s speed and edge ability, opposing offenses must account for him even off the backside.

Long 6’3” 205 lb. frame with good growth potential to add weight as he develops. He’s got plus athleticism and positional flexibility to effectively line up as an OLB or DE. Speed and change of direction give him good range to cover ground and chase the ball from the backside or downfield. Does a good job absorbing contact and then using his hands to disengage from blockers and free himself up to make a tackle. Like his ability as a pass rusher off the edge. He’s quick off the ball and shows good bend to work around blockers to collapse the pocket from the outside. Finished his sophomore season with 112 total tackles and was among the state’s leaders in TFL with 26. He’s a two time First Team All-Region selection and has performed well in the offseason camp circuit.

does a great job of getting into the backfield for Gilbert Christian, and he makes it look effortless. He has long arms and uses them well to quickly maneuver around linemen. Once he gets into the backfield he does a great job of securing the tackle, again using that length to bring backs to the ground. Lang finished his sophomore campaign with a whopping 26 tackles for loss. Another reason that number is so high is because of his impressive speed. Even when opponents run the ball away from Lang, he still has the quickness to chase down running backs and bring them down from behind. He has a way of bending his body and slipping through the cracks to break into the backfield as quickly as possible. As he continues to get stronger and more able to force his way through the trenches, he’s going to be a handful for offensive linemen to stop on their own. Lang’s already listed at 6’3” 200 lbs and if he gets any bigger, one likely won’t be enough.
