McGory took a visit to Central Washington for a gameday visit in late October. The 6’4″/205 TE has shown his physicality and commitment as a run blocker this season and continues to show flashes of an improving receiving skillset. McGory holds a handful of D-III offers from Bluefield, Culver-Stockton, Bethel, Puget Sound, UW-River Falls. #7-Basic faces #2-Arbor View in the first round of the 5A D-I state playoffs this Friday.

McGory added a D-III offer from Puget Sound at the beginning of August. The 6’4″/205 WL prospect has been active on defense from his DE spot totaling 6 tackles, a sack, and an INT in Basic’s first two games of the season.

At 6’4″ and 205 lbs, he’s likely going to have to add some weight to his frame to remain at the tight end spot; but if he does, he could make even more of an impact on Basic’s offense. Finishing his junior season with 121 yards and a touchdown, he’s shown a nice ability to adjust to the ball in the air. Those adjustments often leave the defender behind and end up giving him separation, where he can get to work after the catch. As he continues to grow and get more experience, McGory is a player who could have a breakout year in 2024.

McGory’s a developing two-way player (TE/DE) with upside in his lengthy frame at 6’4”/205. He’s a pass-catching TE that can be deployed out wide and use his height and extended radius over smaller DBs. He’s flashed physicality as a blocker and shows great body control adjusting to the ball, but needs to continue to develop his route-running and hands as a pass catcher. He uses his length effectively to disrupt the QB from his DE spot and covers ground as a contain defender. McGory- who recently picked up his first offer from D-III UW-River Falls- should continue to put his name on the D-II/D-III as he continues to get stronger and improve his skillset.
