Recent Wyoming commit Hunter Kallstrom posted a Randy Moss-esque stat line in Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg’s win over West Central Area as he caught 3 passes for 129 yards and 3 TDs. Kallstrom also recorded a sack.

Two words best describe Kallstrom – football player. On offense, he will line up in the backfield, in the traditional tight end position, and flexed off the line of scrimmage. He catches the ball – both by using some solid route running on short routes and good speed on deep routes. He is a powerful runner who isn’t going to make a ton of people miss but whose feet make it hard for defenders to get a clean hit on him. He is a punishing blocker in space and when taking on linemen in the box. As a defensive end, he is better in space than taking on double teams, but with nine sacks, he was too athletic for most offensive linemen he faced last season.

has been on the D1 radar for a while and is finally seeing the attention turn to scholarship dollars in the all-important junior year offseason. After hours of hard work, uncountable calories consumed, and a visit out to Laramie, Wyoming, the 6’4, 220 lber. received his first college football offer from the Wyoming Cowboys. Wyoming recruits the state of MN very well and is particularly invested in the 2024s, so the FBS Mountain West Conference offer is an excellent start to Kallstrom’s recruitment and well-deserved for the dynamic TE and DE. To reinforce his athleticism, Kallstrom just recently posted some eye-popping track & field numbers at the recent Montevideo outdoor track meet to the tune of a 10.76 100, 23.19 200, 18’5″ long jump, and 46’9″ shot put, which should get more potential college suitors excited. At our recent PRzMN Prospect Tour this spring, he had a good showing, recording a near sub 4.7 40, a 4.5 short-shuttle, and a 9’7″ broad jump. The speed also shows up on tape, and Kallstrom is dynamic, always around the football, and a playmaker who can be counted on when his team needs a big play, offensively or defensively. It’s no surprise his stock is starting to soar!

One of the best players in the Outstate going into next season, 6’4, 210 lb. Hunter Kallstrom out of Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg does not have a condensed highlight film, but in the game tape against central MN competition, you can see a long, athletic, two-way contributor with positional versatility and experience in droves. He can do a ton on the gridiron, and I really like his contested catch ability as a TE, footwork as a RB, strength as a blocking FB, and speed as a pass rusher. He can make plays from a bunch of different spots on the gridiron, and at 6’4, 210 that is a big problem for opposing defenses and DCs. If I had to pick a position he’d best project to right now, I like Kallstrom as a TE. Soft hands, success running a good variety of routes, and a vicious blocker both around the box or out on the perimeter makes him irreplaceable on the field. He visited Augustana earlier this month and a number of programs will be in hot pursuit of his talents before and during his senior season. Keep your eyes out for KMS next season!
