Covington broke out in a big way as a Center Point-Urbana sophomore in 2025. The linebacker/tight end came up with 44.5 tackles, 30 of which were of the solo variety. He produced six tackles for loss and a sack. On offense, he hauled in 5 balls for 155 yards (31.0 YPC) and a touchdown. Covington forced a couple of fumbles and intercepted a pass. He also contributed on special teams. He houses video highlights on his Hudl page from two games last fall. During the footage, the viewer sees a versatile linebacker capable of staying on receivers in coverage or getting downhill in a hurry against the run. Covington’s projectable frame has plenty of room to fill out, adding muscle and strength. His long arms aid him in making tackles and producing tight windows in the passing game. They also help Covington threaten opponents as a two-way tight end with the ability to beat them as a receiver or make life difficult while blocking.
