6’0, 175 pounds. The highest-ranking prospect on either side of the ball in this 1A Title bout. Received an FCS grade from me post film review. , currently holds offers out of WalshU, Lock Haven, and UVA-Wise. Is a Basketball and Baseball participant. Ranks as a top 50 two-way player in all of PA, top 75 if you strip classes.
Gates is putting up gaudy numbers throughout BG’s 14-win season. Neatly 3,000 total scrimmage yards under this young man’s belt, Bishop Guilfoyle will deploy two overtly versatile prospects in Kissell and Gates, both of which can flip a game on its head with one touch of the ball. One punt returned for a score, one passing touchdown thrown. 1,500 of Kissell’s 2,500 passing yards went Gates’s way. An unreal 39 total touchdowns scored, 18 on the ground behind 700+ rushing yards, 18 through the air. This all without mentioning two interceptions returned for a touchdown, as well as three additional INTs and 50+ tackles from his DB spot. The numbers will blow you away, the tape will cement opinions made from those who are only looking at numbers. Enamored with Gates’ playmaking ability of course, yet I get the feeling he could be a better DB at the next level. I’ve gone on record in the past detailing my opinion that Gates could be a special DB at the PSAC level if given the opportunity. Excited to see which coaches in attendance Thursday afternoon fall in love with his skillset. I imagine coaches in attendance will be watching with intent of offering the BG senior.

12 touchdowns through four weeks, helping his team get to a 4-0 record on the year. I’m a bit out of the loop in terms of Week Five production, yet it’s safe to say Gates has been dominating the field on both ends. 260 rushing yards, 475 receiving yards, double-digit touchdowns. Can even throw in a pick six, this enough production through ten games for some prospects. Given a Division One grade this offseason. Gates’ tape is proving me right, although the Bishop Guilfoyle senior is currently offered by UVA Wise and Lock Haven.
Plays above his measurables, can box out DBs like he’s 210, can sky above DBs for balls like he’s 6’2. Can score from 40 yards out, serving as a legitimate vertical threat, can score from pop screens at the LOS. Love how Gates catches the ball away from his body, love the cushion he eats up after his release. This is an FCS prospect, a type of player that would lead a PSAC’s recruiting class. I’d raise his already high rank after watching his 2024 tape.

The last “ATH” to place inside of the PRZ Top 250. Over 1,000 yards from scrimmage this past Fall, racking up 500 yards of offense both on the ground as well as via the air. Bishop Guilfoyle’s

received an FCS grade out of me on my first run through his tape, without even reading his production line. Can run digs, posts, nines, seam benders, he’s a 6’1 wideout who can provide a big target for Kissell. His build allows Gates to be involved in pretty much any passing concept BG wants to throw out there. He can stretch the secondary downfield, he can work the slot, he can work the middle of the field, he can get you first downs if you throw him an occasional screen at the LOS. Is capable of WR1 type load. Is more of a stride/glide past you than a playmaker with the football. He can beat good angles with his speed if you let him. He’s a tough kid too, often seen coming away with catches and interceptions through serious traffic/contact.
After re-watching his tape for this evaluation, I’d argue Gates is a Top 150 prospect if I can rerank off of second looks. Absolute stud.
