He has burst in the open field and can make quick cuts. Gumban has competed at Prep Redzone Showcases before and been a top performer. Cornell has shown a lot of interest in Gumban and he visited recently.

He reads his blockers well and has a nice jump cut he uses to avoid tacklers at the first level. Gumban has some burst once he gets into the open field and can be tough to bring down. He returns some kicks and that’s when you can really see his speed shine.

Gumban cracked the top performers list at the RB position with the skill and versatility he showed out of the backfield. He’s a lengthier RB at 5’10″/175 with a long, smooth gait to his stride and possesses the type of reach to snag passes outside his frame as a receiver. Can get in and out of his lateral cuts well for a player of his build and holds a frame that could see him utilized as a high-utility RB/WR weapon. Gumban will be the top returning for Covina in the fall after totaling 539 yards and 6 TDs on 72 carries as a sophomore.
