Nogales offensive lineman Derek Gonzalez Derek Gonzalez 6'7" | 275 lbs | OL Nogales | 2027 State CA announced his commitment to Kansas on Wednesday.

Gonzalez earned multiple postseason honors including making the Prep Redzone All-Southern California Junior team.

He also had offers from Georgia, Tennessee, Texas Tech and Vanderbilt among others. Gonzalez is the first player in Kansas’ 2027 recruiting class.

Gonzalez earned Montview League Offensive Line MVP this season for Nogales.

Gonzales has seen his stock rise this Spring and picked up his first offer from Sacramento State a few weeks back. He is another ideal tackle body with length and a huge wingspan that will only continue growing and filling out his frame. He has all the physical tools for the tackle position in college, and shows he is a true puncher while also excelling in pass protection. He is still a developing prospect, but has tons of upside and untapped potential at the next level and with two years left in his prep career, he should be a 10+ offer guy by the time he is heading into his Senior season for Salesian.
