About Garrett

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I play both offensive and defensive line with a lot of intensity. On defense, I’m aggressive, using my hands to control blockers and get to the ball fast. On offense, I work to open up gaps and make plays for my team. I like being physical and aggressive and reading the game, and I try to make an impact on both sides of the ball.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality is all about working hard, staying disciplined, and never giving up. I play with a competitive spirit and never back down from a challenge. Off the field, I like playing basketball and hanging out with my friends, and I love spending time with my dog Titan. I’m always trying to get better, both in football and in school

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Team Captain 3 years in a row and 2025 Regional Player of the year. I am an active participant in the Black Male Scholar Program at BGJHS, I take all advanced classes. I've maintained honor roll status and Junior Beta Club. Additionally, I have received the Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award from Jonesville Academy for community service work. Committed member of Victory Hill Church.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have learned strong leadership skills through sports, academics, and community service. My teamwork abilities are showcased both on the football field and the basketball court, by communicating effectively with my teammates and coaches. I try to play selflessly. My community service includes mentoring. I have several rising youth football players on my radar that I encourage and support.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One of my biggest challenges has been learning what it means to be a leader. Since I was young, I’ve been told I had to set a good example. Leadership comes with a lot of responsibility, especially in clutch moments when my teammates look to me to protect, uplift, and carry the team. It can be tough, but it drives me to work harder and be someone they can always count on.

What type of college are you looking for?

I have always been an Alabama and Ohio State fan. I want to join a program that values hard work, discipline, and teamwork, while offering strong academic support and opportunities for growth. I am interested in a school that will allow me to continue developing as an athlete, while also preparing for a successful career. A school with a strong engineering or law school would also be a plus.

2031 Bowling Green (KY) DL Garrett Pearson brought an impressive combination of size and movement to the defensive line group. At 6’1 245 as a 7th grader, he already has a strong frame, but what stood out was how well he carried it. Pearson flashed inside during 1-on-1s, showing the ability to generate power on a bull rush while also mixing in enough quickness to keep blockers honest. He’s still developing his hands and overall pass rush approach, but the physical tools are easy to see. With his size, strength, and movement ability at this stage, Pearson has a solid foundation to build into a disruptive interior presence in the future.

Good early interior frame and moved well for his size. Physical intangibles will serve him well in high school.

Pearson was one of the most impactful defensive players on the field, showing his versatility by starting at edge while also kicking inside when needed. He brought an excellent blend of strength and quickness that allowed him to consistently disrupt opposing offenses, whether he was attacking off the edge or working against interior linemen. His first step and physicality made him a constant problem, and he showed the ability to win in multiple ways, using both power and speed to get into the backfield.

What really set Pearson apart was how tough he was to block snap after snap. He played with a relentless motor and physical edge that wore down opponents, forcing offenses to account for him at all times. Whether setting the edge against the run or collapsing the pocket as a pass rusher, he was a difference-maker who brought intensity and consistency, making him one of the top overall performers on the team.

  • Region 1

The reigning KYMSFA Region 1, Division 1 Player of the Year showed exactly why he earned that honor. Pearson lined up at both Edge and inside at Defensive Tackle during the tournament, depending on situations. His speed off the snap was second to none on the field this past weekend. Played with a high motor and made a number of big plays at or behind the line of scrimmage. He played in the 8th Grade BOTR tournament, but he reclassed from 2030 to 2031 and will be back next season.

  • Selected to Region 1 team for the KYMSFA Battle of the Regions

Growth and ever-changing height/weight measurements comes with the territory as it pertains to prospects on the pre-high school level. That said, Garrett Pearson Garrett Pearson Garrett Pearson 6'1" | 247 lbs | DL Bowling Green Junior High School | 2031 KY returns to the Kentucky Future Stars three inches and 30-pounds heavier than he was a year ago at this time. Pearson is one of a select few kids on this team, that I truly feel could start on either side of the ball. Doubling down on that, based off what I’ve seen from the BGJH prospect, I feel he has the size, quickness and technical skills to play any position up front–on BOTH sides of the ball. Pearson also spends a lot of time playing hoops, something that has likely helped him stay a cut above the rest with his feet and agility.
