is a player who caught my attention during the winter showcase and was a bright spot again this time. Spears kicked things off with a great testing portion that resulted in a 4.87 40-yard dash, 4.75 shuttle drill, 7.41 L-drill, and a 9’2″ broad jump. My biggest takeaway from Gage’s performance on Sunday is that he is a versatile receiver who can win 1v1s with his route running or by using his bigger frame to outmuscle defenders. He is quick getting off the ball and has sneaky straight-line speed that can threaten defenders vertically, while also doing an excellent job tracking the ball deep. Spears has big hands that can go up and snag the ball, even when dealing with contact from the defender. Gage isn’t just a deep-ball receiver, as he showed he can work all three levels of the field. High upside prospect who is only starting to scratch the surface.

brings a familiarity and a lot of upside back to the WV Exposure Series. The 2028 Shady Spring standout has already proven himself at past events and returns as one of the more promising receivers in his class, currently sitting inside the Top 15. At 6’1 with smooth athleticism, he’s a tough cover in space and knows how to win in 1-on-1 settings with defensive back versatility as well. There’s still another level to his game, which makes this spring a big opportunity for him to take another step. Having a proven performer like Spears back in the mix adds even more juice to the competition and raises the bar for everyone lining up across from him.

to have a breakout sophomore season for the Tigers, and he did just that. We got eyes on him in person at our recent Stock Up Showcase, where he was a Top Performer that helped place him as a Top 15 receiver prospect in the class. Spears has good length and athleticism, with upside as a defensive back as well that should garner future college attention.

The defensive back room for this showcase was at times just Spears and one more prospect, needless to say the corners got enough reps.

impressed with his testing numbers and overall effort, he deserved a first team selection. Running a solid 40 for 4.78 the 2028 prospect sure made a case to be moved up from the Watch List of the 2028 West Virginia class.

was already sticking out as a receiver prospect and continued to flash when he jumped in for some defensive reps. Spears is a taller, lengthier player who tested well with a 4.78 40-yard dash, 9′ broad jump, and a 4.85 shuttle drill. Spears uses his size and reach to his advantage by using all of his catch radius to haul in passes. Gage also didn’t shy away from physicality, challenging receivers at the line and catch point while making tough catches through contact.

. He was placed on our 2028 Watch List and will be someone we monitor closely moving forward to see how he develops. He’ll be a key piece on the Tigers’ varsity squad this year and showed potential on JV as a freshman. If Spears can continue to make progress physically, he has the length and athleticism to become a standout varsity defensive back either as a corner or safety.
