Listed as a linebacker, Malone plays more of an outside linebacker/ defensive end role, in which he excels in both the pass and rush game, able to be quick off the snap and use his athleticism to bend around the tackle and create pressure. He has great play recognition and an ability to track down the ball anywhere on the field. Already getting variety snaps in his sophomore season, his ceiling for his position is very high and can develop as a consistent impact player as the year goes on.

His speed on the snap and his use of it to get off of blockers in the pass rushing game, combined with his vision to find and get the ball and reading offensive movement when in coverage, make Malone also worthy of this list as well. His determination on tackles and having great eyes and footwork to not be easily faked out when making tackles in one-on-one scenarios are just a small but crucial factor in his game.

His ability to stop and go as he follows blocks, as well as being a hard runner with explosive open field speed, definitely make him one to watch in the coming years on both sides of the ball.

, he was finishing up his eighth grade year and was a linebacker at our April PRZ-Next camp. Malone walked away with the LB MVP award that day and he came back and was the most impressive running back at the camp on Sunday. Malone really impressed our writers when he was going through the individual drills with the way he moves and how fluid, quick and sudden he is with the ball in his hands. We came into this camp knowing that Malone was smooth and could move because that’s what we wrote about him as a linebacker last year. But he’s continued to elevate his game and it showed.

Malone has the athletic make up to play multiple positions. At a verified 5’6 and 172 pounds, Flander has a powerful build with strength that allows him to fight off blocks well. His closing speed when attacking the ball carrier showed up on his fall film from this past season. During the agility portion of camp, he displayed clean footwork, excellent knee lift in the bag drills and his lateral movement was quick and deliberate. His versatility was evident on film, as he lined up at running back, edge rusher and was a playmaker from all angles on the field. Malone proved he is a Jack of all trades at the linebacker spot.
