About Ethan

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Explosive. Relentless. Team-first. A running back built for the big moments — with the speed to burn defenders, the agility to make them miss, and the toughness to finish every run strong. Versatile enough to lock down as a DB or step up as a kicker when the team needs it. Every snap, every play — all heart, all hustle, all in.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Locked in and built to compete. When it’s time to play, I bring focus, intensity, and heart. I live in the film room, studying every detail to outsmart opponents and sharpen my game. I know when to lead, when to listen, and always put the team first. Football isn’t just a season — it’s who I am, every day, all year.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I bring the same focus and energy off the field as I do on it. Balancing Academic Honors and a part-time job — I put in the work to stay sharp in every area of life. When I’m not on the gridiron, I’m out competing in ECNL soccer, pushing my speed, footwork, and mindset to the next level. Always learning, always grinding, always building the complete athlete.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Service isn’t just something I do — it’s part of who I am. My family and I give back together, whether it’s packing meals at Feed My Starving Children or working side by side on environmental projects during Epic Service Day. Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I’m grateful for the strong support system that’s always had my back. Last year brought my biggest test yet — a minor meniscus surgery that kept me out of the final game and playoffs. It might’ve been a small procedure, but the lessons were huge. Recovery taught me patience, discipline, and trust. I stayed focused, put in the work, and earned my spot back on the field.

What type of college are you looking for?

My dream is to play football in a program built on strong culture — where the fans, the team, and the coaches all push each other to be their best. I wake up every day ready to compete, learn, and grow. Off the field, I’m dedicated to my academics. I’m still exploring my major, but I know I have the drive and discipline to balance the demands of being both a strong student and a college athlete.

Laboy saw limited action during his junior season, but he’s the only back who isn’t graduating this spring and should be widely considered the frontrunner for that RB1 job next year. He played in 3 games, carrying the ball 19 times for 111 yards, for a solid 5.8 YPC. He also caught a pair of passes. He doesn’t have any tape out yet, but I’m excited to see what it brings. He hit the camp circuit last offseason, so I hope to be able to evaluate him in person either this winter or next summer.
