About Emory
Expert Analysis
Sam Erman | Prep Redzone Scout
Garrett is a promising young recruit with a good frame, and you’d never guess he’s a freshman at 6′ 210 pounds when you see the muscle mass he carries. He plays with an edge and knows how to use his strength. He’s a 2-way player who’s gotten work throughout the year and made plays when given the opportunities. He’s a downhill runner who can run through contact and earn hard yards, but I think his long-term upside is on defense. He can win at the point of attack, get after the QB, and does a good job ripping at the ball when he gets a chance. He’s a heads-up player who gets his hands up when he doesn’t get home and can tip passes. He’s already recorded sacks, forced fumbles, tipped balls, and an interception while rotating in. It’s easy to see why the coaches are excited about him. The upside is obvious, and he’s a young player with a lot of room to grow.
