Emmanuelle Onono

Onono is someone we highlighted heading into the season because he looked good in spurts and has all the traits. So far this year, he’s looked good and had another good game on Friday. He has a big arm and can rip the ball into tight windows. He had a few good throws under pressure where he stood in and delivered an accurate throw. He was able to escape a few sacks and keep some drives alive. He ended the night with 2 more passing TDs, adding to his season total, and it looks like he’s continuing to develop week by week.

Onono is a good athlete in the pocket who does a nice job extending plays when things break down. He usually keeps his eyes downfield instead of dropping them at the first sign of pressure, which gives his receivers more time to uncover. He gets the ball out quickly in the short to intermediate passing game and doesn’t hold onto it longer than he has to. If nothing is there, he has the athleticism to take off and gash a defense with his legs. I like that he doesn’t rely on his mobility, but it’s always there when he needs it.

Emmanuel Onono is a fantastic athlete under center for Lafayette. Onono shows a lot of poise in the pocket and isn’t afraid to step into his throw with multiple defenders closing in on him. He didn’t take a ton of deep shots last year, but was precise in the quick game, hitting his receivers in the numbers and proving his knowledge of the Generals’ offense last season. He’s perhaps the best runner on the list, as he can take off from the pocket at a moment’s notice and hurt the defense with his legs. He’s quick and doesn’t shy away from contact before being brought down in the run game.
