The new age of college football recruiting I believe has hurt guys like Ross because this East Tennessee product is legit and talented enough to compete on FCS or D1 level. His senior film is showing that upside as Ross has been near unguardable so far this year and that’s due to his athletic skill set at 6’3 220 plus pounds. The Red Devils senior is a mismatch problem when he lines up in the slot. Defensive backs and smaller linebackers have a hard time keeping up with Ross due to his athleticism and speed but also because of his route knowledge and knack for getting open. Ross has shown improved blocking on the line this season as well but his money is made flexed out and working the middle or deep parts of the field.
There are still areas of development needed for Ross, like adding in more weight while continuing to increase his speed but this dude can play. He provides a lot of pass catching versatility to the offensive side of the ball that can be utilized very well on the collegiate level. It will be interesting to see how Ross continues to perform throughout the rest of the season. His Red Devils team is in for postseason play with a chance to go deep in the playoffs and if they do, Ross will be a big reason why. His continued strong play should increase his recruiting attention as well because I feel this East TN product is too good to be looked past much longer.

is an excellent playmaking tight end out of Knoxville Halls High School. Good ability to work the seam, Ross displays strong hands at the point of attack. He is great with the ball in his hands with very good play strength and contact balance. Good redzone threat to find soft spots vs zone and make tough catches in traffic.

Ross has been a productive pass catcher for multiple years on his Red Devils team but he might be in-store for his best season yet as he looks to be the #1 offensive target for the Fall season. A dependable receiver that works perfect in the intermediate routes, Ross sports strong hands along with the ability to run after the catch while having the upside as an in-line blocker. This Knoxville area tight end has a versatile skill set that I feel plays well on the next level. He isn’t the biggest of guy’s at 6 ‘3 but Ross makes up for it with a high competitive nature as well as his natural athletic abilities. This is the kind of tight end that can become the quarterback’s “best friend” as Ross does just about everything right without many flaws. He may continue to sit under the radar at the moment but I feel Ross could be a steal for whoever brings him into the fold.

Strengths – A multi year starter for his Red Devils team, Ross has been a consistent performer out East for the past few years and now heads into his senior season as a Top 10 in-state tight end that has the potential to play his way into the college ranks. First thing you notice and like about this East Tennessee product is his hands. Ross is a natural pass catcher with strong mits that provides his quarterback a big target that can run just about every intermediate route called. The Red Devils senior is a strong route runner that can flex out into the slot. This is a good athlete with room for growth that can do a variety of things on the playing field from flexing out wide, playing on the line or even being placed into the backfield as a H-Back or fullback. His versatility to me is one of his biggest strengths and a reason more college coaches will get involved sooner than later. Ross has a body/frame on him too that can pack on more weight, turning him into a more physically imposing prospect as well as increasing his run blocking.
Improvement – Gaining more power, strength and weight is the biggest thing about Ross that needs improvement headed into the 2024 season. If this Red Devils pass catcher can increase his body mass, it would help him tons with his run blocking as well as make things harder on defenders when guarding him. Increasing his speed and overall explosion off the line is something Ross can further develop as well over these off-season months.
Overview – As we are deep into the #TN2025 recruiting process, Ross has yet to see the offers float his way but I think with continued work this summer in camps and another strong senior year, this East Tennessee tight end can work his way into the FCS and possibly D1 ranks. Yes I think he is good enough to reach the big stage because Ross can catch and run with room to increase those traits as well. This is a consistent, steady ball player that does a lot of little things right. He is a team first guy that will do whatever it takes to help the team win but Ross can be a gamechanger as well due to his size and ability to run after the catch. He may sit under the radar at the moment but Ross could be a steal for someone down the road and a prospect that pays off big time with continued years of development and growth.
