Expert Analysis
Brian Jerzak | Prep Redzone Scout
When Altavilla can stand in the pocket, he can rip balls downfield with anyone. He drives the ball downfield – often on a line without much loft to allow defenders to recover. He is not just a pocket passer; he throws well on the move and has almost as much power on his throws as when he can set his feet. He has good creativity in the pocket and can keep plays alive longer than most quarterbacks – sometimes using multiple arm angles to get a completion. When the pass is not there, or if his name is called in the running game, Altavilla is not looking to get out of bounds; he is looking to make a move on someone or punish a potential tackler.

Altavilla did a good job running the offense and making plays when needed. He showed off a strong arm, pushing the ball to the outside for a completion. The junior quarterback then hit a crossing route. He showed good touch, completing a swing pass. His best moment had more to do with his head than his arm or legs. He obviously changed a play at the line of scrimmage, resulting in a 46-yard touchdown pass.

Altavilla has been having an incredible junior season so far in 2024, and that trend only continued during Week 5. He went 7/8 through the air for 146 yards with 2 touchdowns and a passer rating of 118.8. On the Week 5 tape, Atlavilla throws an incredible deep ball. He doesn’t have a standard pocket passer frame, but he can sling it, and he moves very well with the ball in his hands. He’s a play-action demon who looks like he will continue to light up the stat sheet for the next two years.
