As I was walking up, Dontay Tyson Dontay Tyson 6'3" | 190 lbs | WR Peoria | 2027 State AZ Jr. already stood out — just a massive presence on the field. But it wasn’t just about size. Once he got moving, he covered ground smoothly and looked way more fluid than most guys with his build. He’s not the twitchy, quick-cut type, but when he builds up speed, he’s a load to deal with. There’s a physicality to the way he moves, and once he has a head of steam, he’s tough to bring down in any scenario. What really stood out, though, were his hands. Soft, natural, and dependable. He absorbed the ball effortlessly and made some impressive grabs that looked almost casual thanks to how clean his hands are. You could also see the basketball background come through in how he used his frame — posting up, shielding defenders, and controlling his body mid-air to finish plays. It was a really solid showing from a guy who looks like he can be a serious matchup problem all season long.

Dontay Tyson Dontay Tyson 6'3" | 190 lbs | WR Peoria | 2027 State AZ brings a different kind of juice to the field — the type you can’t really coach. He’s got speed, sure, but it’s the way he pairs that with elite quickness and vision that makes him so dangerous. He’s one of those guys who can change direction without losing an ounce of momentum, and defenders are constantly getting caught taking bad angles because he accelerates faster than they expect. Whether he’s stretching the field deep, weaving through traffic on a screen, or flipping the field on a kick return, Tyson just makes things happen. And the fact that he’s doing it from a smaller school makes it even more impressive. He doesn’t need a big-time spotlight to shine — just give him the ball and let him go to work.

Tyson is a big time player with a ton of potential that already holds 11 offers thus far. That offer list includes Tennessee, Oregon, Arizona, Washington, Utah, Kansas, Kansas State, Purdue, Nebraska, Florida State, and Colorado State. This kid is an absolute burner with elite level speed- clearly one of, if not the fastest kid in the state. An obvious home run vertical threat, as he also possesses excellent ball skills, leaping ability, body control, and a large catch radius to win those contested catches or adjust his body to haul in a grab from various angles. A very impressive player with loads of potential and high ceiling.

Tyson has been one of PRZ’s highest rated 2027 prospects since his freshman year. At 6’3” 185 lbs. he’s an explosive athlete with track speed to be a lethal vertical threat or take short passes for long gains. His acceleration and short area burst set him apart from his peers and make him a mismatch for any high school level DB. Excellent fluidity in his movement with the ability to change directions and create separation coming out of the break. Dangerous after the catch and in the return game he’s elusive in the open field and possesses a sustained second gear to break away once in space. Has seen a bump in recruiting this contact period with six new P4 offers coming through bringing his total to nine.
