La Habra quarterback DJ Mitchell DJ Mitchell DJ Mitchell 6'2" | 173 lbs | QB La Habra | 2027 State CA announced his commitment to Cal Poly on Monday.

Mitchell completed 51 percent of his passes for 2678 yards with 30 touchdowns and 13 rushing touchdowns last season for a La Habra team that won a CIF championship.

He had early offers from Arkansas, Auburn and Utah among others and Missouri State was his most recent offer. Mitchell is the first player in Cal Poly’s 2027 recruiting class.

Mitchell is coming off a impressive Junior season for La Habra that resulted in a CIF title and has since picked up an offer from Cal Poly and will be taking an official visit there in early June. He is another dual-threat guy with elite athletic abilities in and out of the pocket and can break away in the open field and is seemingly comfortable with the ball in his hands. Throwing, he gets the ball out quick with a snappy release, shows he can evade pressure and throw across his body from awkward arm angles and is a high IQ passer that can make all the throws inside or outside the hashes. In the Big Sky, Mitchell would be a big time steal and is poised for a monster senior season.

Mitchell threw 16 touchdown passes with two interceptions and ran for four touchdowns last season for La Habra.

He is very athletic and can throw from the pocket or off-platform. He has the frame to add some size without sacrificing his athleticism. Mitchell has offers from Auburn, San Diego State and Utah among others.
