Expert Analysis
Sam Erman | Prep Redzone Scout
Mount was vital out of the slot and seemed to come through whenever the offense needed him. He kept drives alive, gave his quarterback a reliable target, and delivered whether it was in the quick game or on a shot down the field. He had a nice touchdown where he found the soft spot in the defense, made a man miss after the catch, and worked his way into the end zone. I also liked the effort he showed as a blocker in the running game. He’s a good rising young player who showed he can impact the offense even when the ball isn’t coming his way.

Mount is an impressive young recruit who already looks comfortable when the lights come on. He’s explosive with the ball in his hands and has long strides that allow him to eat up ground once he gets into the open field. He has good vision, lets plays develop naturally, and has the burst to turn a crease into a big play. Every touch feels like it has home run potential because of his acceleration. More than anything, he just looks like he belongs on the field. Some young players are still trying to figure the game out, whereas Mount plays with a natural confidence that’s hard to teach.

is a shifty playmaker who the team likes to use in motion and get him out into space. The 6-foot-0, 167-pound slot receiver can get yards after contact and maintains good balance in space. Mount displays soft hands and good adjustment to the ball when releasing downfield and knows how to score. High-academic prospect with plenty of upside.

. Mount impressed in his role as a freshman in Oldham County’s running back rotation, finishing the year with 23 carries for 126 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games. He is a tough ball carrier to bring down in the open field as he has shown the elusiveness to make defenders miss and the strength to run straight through them without breaking stride. Mount has also shown the speed to break away for big gains once he hits the second level. He also finished his freshman year with 10 receptions for 105 yards and two touchdowns, and recorded six tackles on defense. Mount will be a player to keep a close eye on as his varsity reps continue to increase moving forward.

Mount had a good weekend defensively and was one of the better guys over the middle in the 15U group. On Sunday, he had a big PBU in OT that helped seal an important win. He’s got good range and vision on the field. He was in shape and never ran out of breath. I liked his ability to stay in phase with his receiver and make a move on the ball as well. He’s physical when he needs to be, and I think he’ll have a productive high school career.
