About Declan

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe my gameplay style as physical, versatile, and team-first. I use my size and length to create mismatches, whether that’s blocking, winning contested catches, or being a reliable target in traffic. I take pride in doing the details right, especially blocking and effort plays that don’t always show up on the stat sheet. I play with consistent energy and look to be someone my teammate

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m someone who cares a lot about the people around me and brings a high level of energy and focus every day. I have a strong sense of empathy, which helps me connect with teammates and be someone they can trust, but I’m also competitive and driven to improve. I take coaching seriously, stay disciplined, and try to bring a positive mindset whether things are going well or not.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through football, hockey, and training, I’ve developed strong teamwork and leadership skills. I understand how to communicate, support teammates, and stay accountable to a group goal. I’ve also learned discipline and time management by balancing school, training, and competition. I try to lead by example through effort, consistency, and attitude.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One challenge I’ve faced is managing a consistent routine while balancing time between two households. That has required me to be more organized and disciplined with my time, especially when it comes to training, schoolwork, and recovery. I’ve also worked through injuries, including a hip labrum issue, which has taught me patience, resilience, and how to adapt my training while still improving.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that will challenge me both academically and athletically. I want to be part of a competitive football program with a strong team culture and coaching staff that emphasizes development. Academically, I’m interested in a school that offers strong science programs, especially related to pre-med areas, and will prepare me for my long-term goal of attending medical school.
