Robert Davis | Prep Redzone Scout
Carter is a versatile edge defender whose ability to impact multiple phases of the game makes him an exciting prospect to evaluate. He brings a hybrid skill set, capable of playing as a linebacker while also rushing off the edge. In coverage, he shows awareness and the ability to disrupt passing lanes, while as a pass rusher, he can generate pressure and force quarterbacks into quicker decision making. Carter’s versatility allows him to adapt to different roles, giving him value in a variety of defensive schemes. His athleticism and instincts stand out, enabling him to make plays across the field. The Exposure Series will provide an opportunity for Carter to showcase his full range of abilities against top competition. A strong performance could help elevate his profile and reinforce his status as a player to watch moving forward.

Carter measures in at 6’1 190-pounds, playing MLB and DE for Evergreen. He had 18 total tackles (12 solo, 7 assisted), 1.5 TFL, .5 sacks, 2 PD, and 1 blocked field goal. Carter has good athletic ability due to very good lateral quickness, acceleration, good speed, and jumping. Good read and reaction speed. Very good range with good tackling. When he’s lined up on the edge, he’ll occasionally back off into zone coverage. When he’s rushing, he uses his very good block shedding and get off speed to rush the QB. Very good bend as well. Carter has good pursuit and will run into the 2nd level to make the tackle. I like his versatility, and I believe colleges will too.

After a strong freshman campaign, Carter is ready to take the next step. He brings explosiveness off the line with a quick first step that disrupts offensive timing. A relentless motor helps him track ball carriers down from behind, and his ability to create chaos in the backfield makes him a threat every snap. With a full offseason to build on his early success, Carter is primed for a breakout year. Look for him to be a player on the rise as he carves out a bigger role.
