Uses his frame to box out defensive backs on slant routes and is willing to go over the middle. High points the ball in the air in jump ball situations and has a big catch radius!

emerged in 2025 for the State Runners Up Dons. The three sport athlete does a great job using his frame and length to his advantage at the catch point. A fluid strider, Coates comes off the ball with great urgency, runs routes with instincts, and catches the ball away from his body with soft and sudden hands. Coates displays the willingness to be physical and block for his teammates on the perimeter. After recovering from a 2024 cut short, Coates performed at a high level last Fall in his first opportunity as a playmaker on varsity.
